Journalists in general don’t relish asking politicians questions in awkward situations, like on a golf course or over a waffle. But sometimes our hands are forced: Obama hasn’t given a press conference in 10 days and the questions, some of them — like Hamas — rather important, are starting to build up.

Google Analytics tells me that two people found my blog by searching for variations of ”who is behind baugher tumblr”.
I am willing to issue an official denial. I am not baugher. Though I really, really wish I was.
Julia Allison, you can stop googling me.

They dined at Commander’s Palace tonight.
Bush got the crowd cheering by dancing a brief second-line with a brass band, then gave a one-liner about partying in New Orleans as a young man. “I want to thank the band for giving me a chance to relive my youth. I spent many a fine day here in New Orleans,” he said, pausing for the punchline, “and a pretty good night, too.”
(via NOLA.com).
Poor choice in restaurant, though, and Bush should know. Not only is he a huge fan of John Besh of Restaurant August, but he also had another local, Master Chef Ronnie Seaton cooking for him at the White House for a year. The Seaton family restaurant, Willie Mae’s Scotch House is one of the jewels of New Orleans.

Willie Nelson was playing the Melkweg in Amsterdam last night. Great, small venue (probably about 1,500 people or so), and as close to a homecoming for Willie as he gets outside Austin.
It was an amazing performance — among the songs performed were Whiskey River, Whiskey For My Men (Beer For My Horses), Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys, Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground, On The Road Again, Always On My Mind, A gospel set (I’ll Fly Away, Will the Circle be unbroken), Help Me Make It Through The Night, Me & Bobby McGee, Georgia,
All Of Me, Good Hearted Woman, and Jambalaya.
The highlight of the show, however, was Willie stopping things half way through. He gets up to the mic and says “When I told one of my friends I was coming here for 4/20, he said he’d have to join me. Please help me welcome to the stage …”

Yes, that is a platinum and diamond studded mic holder in Snoop’s hand. The two had spent 4/20 together in Amsterdam, in and out of coffee shops, filming together on a duet project, and playing dominoes together. They sang together for only one song, “Superman”.
